
CT scores for the sixth time at the Laureus World Sports Awards

Winner of the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic was awarded World Sportsman of the Year at the 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards held this week in London.
The winners of the Awards were unveiled at a globally televised Ceremony held at Central Hall, Westminster. The premier annual honours on the international sporting calendar, the Awards winners are chosen by the Laureus World Sports Academy, the ultimate sports jury, made up of 47 of the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of all time.
Creative Technology (CT) has been involved with the Laureus World Sports Awards since 2006 providing a variety of video equipment for each of the last six Ceremonies and this year was no exception.
CT provided four Christie HD 18 projectors for the main screen with the four side screens also utilising twin HD18’s. In addition, 30m2 of Barco OLite was curved into the stairs, 200m2 of VideoFlex was used to the edge the stage and all was driven via Watchout and Spyder.
With various plasma screens and crew also provided by CT, the prestigious Awards Ceremony featured a new futuristic set designed by Florian Wieder.
The Laureus World Sports Awards 2012, which recognise sporting achievement during 2011, was hosted by Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winner Clive Owen and attended by guests from the worlds of sport and entertainment.
England football legend Bobby Charlton was awarded the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his remarkable career. Among the other guests present were Bryan Ferry who performed on stage as well as British actress Thandie Newton, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, American actor Luke Wilson and Israeli actress and model Bar Rafaeli.
Proceeds from the Laureus World Sports Awards directly benefit and underpin the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which supports 91 community sports projects in 34 countries around the world, including five in London. Since its inception, Laureus has raised €40 million for projects which have improved the lives of more than one-and-a-half million young people.
