CT Holland enables curvy Symphonica in Rosso

Held for the sixth time in Arnhem in the Netherlands, annual music spectacular Symphonica in Rosso, was this year headlined by Dutch singer songwriter duo Nick and Simon - their four night residency selling out to audiences exceeding 30,000 for each show!
Following on previous years’ successes which has featured international stars such as last year’s headline act Sting, Diana Ross, founder of the Symphonica concept Marco Borsato, Paul de Leeuw and Lionel Richie, this year’s act Nick and Simon provided a stunning show for the vast audience held at the GelreDome.
With creating a true visual spectacle in mind, Creative Technology (CT) pulled out all the stops to assist technical production company Sightline Productions and end client Mojo Concerts.
Over 500 modules of Spider30 and 2400 Barco MiStrips were used to realise the set design conceived by Ignace D'Haese. The MiStrips were constructed in a three strip high configuration, positioned on both sides of the stage area and moving in a curved design to the end of the public area. Two giant backdrop IMAG screens were also curved, supported off stage by a special configuration called “fingers” to enable the curvature.
For an added special effect in the show CT created a huge LED column constructed out of 160 modules Spider30 and reaching eight metres in height. This column was able to move vertically and horizontally from its original stage position to the centre of the venue above the audience. Concealed in the column the artistes were able to perform as close as possible to the audience. CT designed and provided all the bespoke built steelwork that was necessary for this project.
Taking just four technical load in days the complete set was constructed during two 12 hours shifts, day and night. “It was amazing to see how well the team did to create the challenging setup. Everybody involved did an amazing job!” commented Jeroen Boere, Project Manager at Creative Technology Holland.
