Nickelodeon Awards 2007
The first UK “Kids Choice Awards” hosted by McFly, was held recently at ExCel in London Docklands. The same awards ceremony is well established in America, and is an eagerly anticipated annual event.
Simon Beresford designed a unique, eye catching backdrop. There were a number of elements that needed to be considered for the live show including a slime pool recessed into the stage and a catwalk for the arrival of a St. Bernard with nominee cards.
Creative Technology supplied the screens with CT Project Manager, Stuart Young responsible for the day to day management and delivery on site. Staf Rowley, PM for Dimension Audio supplied and managed sound.
Creative Technology supplied 7 LED screens, all varying in size, with 100’s of children in the audience, all sight lines needed to be considered. The 3 main screens consisted of one 3x3 and 3x2 OD10 Mitsubishi and one 12x9 Ilite 8. The supporting screens ranged in scale but were all formed of Ilite 8, positioned in and around the main set.
Dimension Audio used a small proportion of their extensive EV XLC Line Array range, supported and driven by a Yamaha PM5d mixer with Yamaha DSP5d extension. The sound quality was acoustically impeccable in the venue.
Simon stated, “Since the event is well established in the US, we were confident the UK version would be well received, but didn’t expect it to be as well received as it was. Everyone involved was ecstatic with the response. We are hoping it will become an annual awards ceremony on the events calendar. The sound and video guys did a fantastic job and we look forward to working with them on next year’s Kids Choice Awards”.
